Coalition Committees

Five working committees implement the Coalition’s work plan:

Training.  Organizes instructor training courses using the Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families curriculum for financial education providers in Native communities. 

Co-chairs are Craig Nolte, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; Stewart Sarkozy-Banoczy, OWEESTA; and Vickie Oldman, Kitseallyboy Consulting.

Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) Initiatives.  Provides a forum for TCUs to network and coordinate their efforts to develop and implement curriculum- and community-based financial education programs.

Co-chairs are John Phillips, American Indian Higher Education Consortium and Joan Goodman, Southwestern Indian Polytechnical Institute.

Youth Initiatives.  Promotes financial education programs for youth through K-12 schools and other community-based youth programs.

Committee Chair is Cora Mae Haskell, of Four Bands Community Fund.

New Assets.  Developing financial education resources on topics such as investing and retirement planning for Native communities with higher income streams from per capita payments and other tribal distribution.

Co-chairs include Stewart Sarkozy-Banoczy, OWEESTA and Jennifer Malkin, CFED.

Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).  Promotes access to EITC in Native communities by developing resources and managing a listserve for local Native EITC campaigns.

Co-chairs are Steven Shepelwich, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and Karen Edwards, Washington University, Center for Social Development.
