Adult Basic Financial Education & Issues
Conserving and planning for the future have always been part of Native cultures. Elders and parents taught the younger generation the skills to manage themselves, their families, and the tribal community as a whole, including trading, hunting, fishing, harvesting, and making preparations for the coming seasons. This knowledge was passed from generation to generation.
Like trading, fishing, and tending crops, financial skills must be learned. No one is born with financial savvy or the ability to use money wisely. However, managing money successfully is within the reach of all who want to learn how.
Your work in establishing financial education programs in Native communities brings valuable knowledge to many interested participants. With your help, your participants will develop tools that will carry them through life.
